Position Description Summary
Henry Ford College Presents an opportunity for an Assistant Director of Total Rewards.
Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Human Resources, the Assistant Director of Total Rewards is responsible for providing strategic leadership and support regarding all aspects of HFC's compensation and benefits program in a highly unionized environment. This position maintains functional responsibility for compensation, oversight of benefits, and ensuring that all programs are consistently administered and in compliance with College polices, collective bargaining agreements and all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Education and Leadership Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher in human resource management, business administration, finance, or other related fields or a combination or education and experience may be considered.
- Five years related experience in compensation management or a related field.
- Demonstrated increased responsibility in supervision and team leadership.

- Knowledge of HR concepts, principles, and practices related to compensation retirement, insurance, injury compensation, and other employee benefits programs.
- Ability to comply with federal, state, and local regulations and compliance requirements related to employee compensation and communicate effects of changes to management, enforce adherence to requirements, and advise management on needed actions.
- Knowledge of the tactics, technologies, principles, and processes to protect, analyze, prioritize, and manage incidents.
- Ability to analyze, communicate, and evaluate data related to employee salary, payroll and annual budget and total compensation.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate data
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including Excel
- Demonstrated experience cofacilitating the annual review of employee compensation to evaluate pay equity across all employee demographics.
- Experience fostering cross functional work to design and implement solutions to compensation-related issues, including communication and training on processes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects.
- Understanding of where and how to gather information, organize information, and maintain information, including strong recordkeeping skills and ability to prepare special reports as needed by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing employee benefit information and trends.
- Excellent priority setting and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize workload yet be responsive to situations as they arise.
- Ability to interact with and maintain strong relationships with diverse functional groups, including incumbent employees, new employees and external stakeholders regardless of title or level.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct group orientation/benefit sessions, as well as individual benefit sessions for HFC employees.

- Execute and manage the compensation programs such as annual merit and performance review process bonuses.
- Conduct job evaluations and benchmark comparison of position responsibilities and evaluate comparable market value wage/salary data to make recommendations to the Talent Acquisition team regarding wage/salary placements for applicants.
- Align compensation and benefit practices with HFC's ABIDE Strategic Plan and HR's Strategic Vision.
- Respond to salary surveys and market analysis, as requested, and provide reports and recommendations to the Executive Director of Human Resources.
- Ensure proper documentation and audit processes are adhered to.
- Ensure data integrity and follow quality control measures for data accuracy.
- Provide Financial Services with annual staff planning data and salary placements for budget purposes.
- Manage professional development requests for reimbursement and tuition reimbursement applications for various union groups per the terms of the respective collective bargaining units.
- Interact with faculty, administrators, and staff regarding programs, policies, changes, or issues related to compensation, payroll, and benefits.
- Prepare statistical reports, annual staff planning and analysis of data related to HRIS, EEO, AA, and IPEDS to multiple users, including Human Resources, Financial Services and other College departments.
- Generate data and assist in interpretation of HR metrics.
- Conduct audits to ensure correctly classified positions to comply with legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct ad hoc compensation analyses and projects.
- Collaborate with Payroll and ensure accurate implementation of salary tables, employee raises, contractual step increases, deferred pay calculations for all pay cycles.
- Oversee daily operations of College-wide benefit programs including: leave banks, sick leave, vacation, employee retirement (MPSERS, ORP and Annuity options) , wellness, open enrollment, COBRA, payroll deductions, accruals, and contribution limits.
- Collaborate with the Labor Relations Team to implement compensation and benefits according to collective bargaining unit and serve as the lead compensation resource during collective bargaining negotiations.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations pertaining to compensation and benefits.
- Share responsibility for creating a positive work environment within the HR department and for providing an excellent customer service experience to the College community.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all duties of the role.
