Emory Law works to support law students' individual success and wellbeing, both academic and personal. We run the award-winning Emory Law Houses program, which with our Dean's Teaching Fellows program make up our "learning communities", as well as advising individual students, helping to implement disability-related accommodations, administering the Professional Conduct Code and the annual Law School Survey of Student Engagement, promoting law student wellness, and connecting law students with campus resources ranging from Student Health Services to the Title IX Office. Reporting to the Director of Student Life, the Assistant Director of Student Life will work to connect law students with resources for personal and professional development in and out of the classroom to support their academic success, assisting in the academic mission of the law faculty by helping to generate an engaged learning environment for all students as well as supporting individual students who may experience personal or learning challenges. The position works closely with other student-facing departments including Academic Engagement & Success, Career Services, and Admissions, as well as multiple University Offices including the Department of Accessibility Services, Student Intervention Services, and Counselling & Psychological Services.. JOB DESCRIPTION: + Plan, implement and oversee the Law School’s Wellness program + Manage and administer student academic accommodations including assisting with the administration of exams for students with academic accommodations in coordination with the Emory Law Registrar’s Office, the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, and the Department of Accessibility Services + Assist in planning, overseeing and managing the House Program (learning communities) in coordination with the Office of Academic Engagement and Student Success + Assist in planning and oversee implementation of comprehensive student leadership training programs for the House Program, the Student Bar Association, Student Organization leaders and Practice Society leaders. + Support and advise students on academic and personal matters, making referrals to other Emory departments as needed + Oversee purchasing for student events. + Assist with the management of Practice Societies in coordination with the Director of Student Life. + Assist with the planning and implementation of orientation for new students, + Assist with annual administration of the Law School Survey of Student Engagement and data analysis for continuous assessment and improvement, + Assist with the preparation of operational and statistical reports and maintain files and databases + Help manage the Student Life operating budget and other related budgets, + Assist with logistics for Commencement Awards + Assist with planning and implementing the spring Emory Law Diploma Ceremony including attendance at the event + Work closely with other academic services and positions such as the Registrar’s office, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, the Graduate Programs, and the onsite ESL specialist, + Perform related responsibilities as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: + Bachelor's degree in adult education, human resources development or a related field and + three years of experience in student affairs, advising, registration, financial aid or a related field, OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: + Higher education experience, + master’s degree, or the equivalent, in education, with a focus on support for learning or a related field -OR- a JD, + intermediate Excel Knowledge, + five years of experience in the field of academic support or the equivalent, and + demonstrated experience working with people of diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds To Apply: + Applicants will be considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled with a first review on April 1. + Cover Letter + We acknowledge that it takes time to complete a cover letter.
