THIS POSITION IS ON THE OXFORD COLLEGE OF EMORY UNIVERSITY CAMPUS, 36 MILES EAST OF ATLANTA.

JOB DESCRIPTION: + Organizes, coordinates, and leads the Oxford College pre-health advising program in consultation with the Oxford Advising Support Center, Oxford Center for Pathways and Purpose, Emory Pre-Health Advising, and Oxford College Academic Affairs. + This position reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Oxford College. + Responsible for achieving long-term operational objectives and working with individuals or groups to create and deliver advising and programming to students, faculty, and staff. + Represents the organization at meetings, conferences, and other events. + May develop and present speeches or presentations to generate or enhance awareness of program(s) as well as to provide advising in group format. + Provides technical support by evaluating established processes, conducting training, attending operational meetings, and networking with affiliated groups. + Participates in planning, administering, and monitoring program-related budgets. + Conducts research, designs new initiatives, and collaborates with others to ensure program(s) remain viable. + Oversees or assists in developing operational and statistical reports for management and regulatory agencies. + Ensures required records and documentation are maintained. + The Assistant Director (AD) provides academic and pre-professional advising to Oxford students who are interested in pursuing entry into graduate programs or careers in the health and allied health professions (including: medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, nursing, pharmacy, mental health, public health, physical therapy, physician assistant, as well as non-clinical health science careers such as health administration, health education, research and development, etc). + In addition to the primary functions of student career exploration and discernment, advises on professional goals, course selection, extracurricular (community and public service, clinical experiences, research, and other health professional opportunities), and the application process and readiness. + Prepares first and second year students for the workshops and mandatory check-ups. + Informs currently-enrolled Oxford students about PHA services in Atlanta, including peer health mentors, practice interview sessions, and the composite letter process. + Works with students to support skill building as it relates to the pre-professional admissions process, careers, or other professional development. + Develops and coordinates program-related events, including scheduling, catering, transportation, and logistics. + Works closely with the directors and staff of both Oxford Advising Support Center and Oxford Center for Pathways and Purpose. + Serves as the connection point and liaison between Oxford College and Emory College Pre-Health Advising, Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing BSN Freshman Option, and Rollins School of Public Health. + Participates in faculty advising training sessions; conducts training, represents the program at meetings and conferences, and networks with affiliated groups. + Addresses student academic concerns and provides referrals to campus resources. + Builds links with other university offices and support services such as Campus Life, International Student and Scholar Programs, and the Center for International Programs Abroad. + Develops and leads workshops and programs to enhance program initiatives. + Assists with academic orientation activities and course registration programming and registration processes, including assistance with permission only courses (i.e., Nursing prerequisites). + Develops and manages database records and reports. + Performs related responsibilities as required to include participation in commencement. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: + A master's degree in counseling, higher education administration or a related field, and one year of related experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: + Preferred candidate will have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and familiarity with student advising and programming + Previous experience at a selective undergraduate institution is particularly valued. + Successful candidates will enjoy working directly with students and have a significant interest in student development and growth. NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion.
