About the Job
1. Assist the DON with coordination of all nursing services.
2. Acts as liaison between the Administrator and nursing services administration.
3. Assists Administration with ongoing updating and review of nursing policies and procedures to assure continued quality of care.
4. Ensure that quality of care provided in the facility meets/exceeds standards.
OHER DUTIES:
1. Assumes any appropriate responsibilities and duties of the DNS in his/her absence.
2. Ensures that nursing requirements for licensure and accreditation are maintained.
3. Assures coordination of nursing services department's activities with those of other facility departments.
4. Maintains written position descriptions for nursing services personnel. Updates as appropriate.
5. Responsible for yearly written evaluations and for documenting disciplinary concerns for all nursing services administrative personnel.
6. Makes regular rounds to assure optimal quality of care is provided.
7. Reports to the Administration any critical employee relations issues, complaints or unresolved grievances.
8. Performs other duties and attends meetings as necessary and as dire Administration.
9. Assumes independent responsibility for documenting disciplinary concerns for nursing assistants on designated shifts, including reprimands, oral and written warnings, and recommending the suspension or discharge of an employee.
EXPECTATIONS:
1. Presents a neat appearance with a pleasant speaking voice and personality. Must be punctual.
2. Works with a minimum of supervision.
3. Discusses any problems, needs or concerns which arise with the Administrator.
4. Attends in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs as directed.
