Cedarhurst, a regional healthcare provider and true friend of older adults, seeks a service-minded, career-oriented individual to join our team as an Assistant Director of Nursing at our Cedarhurst of Lawrence community.
As an Assistant Director of Nursing, you will be responsible for assisting the Director of Nursing in leading and overseeing all aspects of clinical operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to residents in compliance with regulations and organizational goals.
As an Assistant Director of Nursing, working with the Director of Nursing, you will impact the lives of our residents by –
- Assisting the Director of Nursing with defining and maintaining the standards of nursing practice within the community and assuming responsibilities of the Director of Nursing in his/her absence.
- Assisting with the oversight of provision of appropriate medications, treatments, and general nursing services according to the resident’s care plan and physician directed orders.
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of in-service education programs for nursing staff.
- Conducting and participating in daily rounds to monitor the delivery of nursing care.
- Participating as a member of the community’s management team in planning, policy formation and administrative decision-making, with particular emphasis on the community’s care giver and nursing services.
- Assessing residents and potential residents for appropriate levels of care.
- Managing and coordinating the work of all nursing and care staff, communicating pertinent resident health and safety information.
- Supervising and monitoring medications for residents who self-administer if applicable.
- Assessing and completing overall nursing day to day duties on scheduled floor nurse shifts.
- Assisting with the oversight of pharmacy and community relationships including ensuring medications are delivered timely, eMAR is accurate, and address any concerns in real time.
- Assisting the Director of Nursing with oversight of the entire clinical department including resident assistants, certified nursing assistants, medication technicians, etc.
- Providing interim documentation as required to resident file, attending all scheduled interdisciplinary resident care meetings.
- Understanding all responsibilities associated with clinical roles and demonstrating the ability to effectively carry them out.
- Interviewing, hiring, training, supervising, evaluating, and retaining a high-performing resident care team.
- Engaging in efforts to increase occupancy rates while prioritizing the wellbeing of our residents to support them in aging comfortably within the community.
- Promoting the physical, personal, and emotional wellbeing of each resident and striving to maintain the ultimate goal, which is to return the resident to their maximum level of self-care and independence, when possible.
- Understanding the residents’ Advance Directives and following their wishes.
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand/move, communicate, and identify written information.The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds independently; occasionally lift and/or move up to 200 pounds with assistance.
- Other duties as assigned.
To become an Assistant Director of Nursing, you will need –
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school and a current state license for LPN or RN is required at all times, with 3+ years of nursing experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of best person-directed care practices for seniors, including those with dementia preferred.
- Must possess a current CPR certification at all times.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven experience in staffing, leading, developing, and retaining a strong resident care team.
- Ability to oversee the delivery of quality care and services to our residents in compliance with the regulations pertaining to care plans and resident assessments.
- Must possess knowledge of state regulations regarding senior living care, as well as a solid understanding of opportunities and limits of other levels of care within senior living.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times with the ability to effectively perform conflict intervention and resolution for residents, families, employees, and others as needed.
- Ability to work well with others and take direction from management, as well as take initiative – willing to go above and beyond to ensure our residents needs are met and they are comfortable in their living environment.
- Self-motivated to accomplish identified goals with a strong sense of accountability for results.
- Proficiency in computer applications such as: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc), Electronic Health Record systems (EHR), such as ECP.
