About the Job
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited hospital or school of professional nursing (diploma or baccalaureate program).
- Currently registered in New Jersey.
- Experienced in supervision and teaching in a behavioural Health setting.
- Knowledge of DOH and Federal regulations as they relate to LTC.
- Advanced knowledge of psychotropic Medication Management.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The ADON takes the management lead over a specific unit and of the facility by directing and supervising the coordination of all services and assists the DON with the managerial and clinical activities of units assigned.
PART 1: JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND STANDARDS
1. Takes lead over units and conducts staff meetings regularly to keep nursing staff informed.
2. Completes investigations promptly and reports to the DON and the IDCP Team when appropriate.
3. Works as a team member with all other departments to give optimum level of care, and fosters a team approach.
4. Monitors nursing staff compliance with monthly documentation of Restorative Program, Psychotropic Summaries, and Resident’s Weight.
5. Coordinate and integrate the nursing service with other services to provide a continuum of care for the residents.
6. Maintain cordial relationships with residents and their families regarding methods of meeting the nursing care needs and other related problems of the residents.
7. Conducts chart audits regularly and monitors nursing staff (RN, LPN, and CNA) compliance with all required MDS 3.0 documentation.
8. Delegates/completes Pharmacy Consultant’s Report promptly.
9. Oversees nursing staff to make sure that residents’ needs are being met properly. Conducts daily quality rounds.
10. Able to organize & prioritize daily work and meet deadlines for assigned projects. Requests deadline extension when unable to meet target dates.
11. Monitors/delegates compliance and accuracy of Monthly Re-Caps done by nurses of respective units.
12. Review the nursing staff 24's reports and bring residents’ issues to the morning meetings for resolution.
13. Monitors compliance with Narcotics Count, Glucometer’s function testing Emergency Equipment daily check.
14. Keeps information open between shifts by reporting important issues to the off-shirt Nursing Supervisors through the Communication Notebook.
15. Attends all meetings related to residents' care: Nursing Management, Restorative Program, Family Meetings, Morning Meetings, PI Meetings, etc.
16. Monitor staff documentation of new admissions/re-admissions and develop respective care plans.
17. Conducts weekly staff meetings.

1. Demonstrate the ability to handle stressful situations.
2. Must be able to write & speak the English language.
3. Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity & ability to work effectively with residents, family members, personnel & support agencies.
4. Ability to relate and work with the physically and emotionally challenged resident.
