Assistant Director of Nursing – Assisted Living

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing (DON) in upholding high standards of resident care. This role involves advising medical staff, department heads, and the administrator on Nursing Services matters. The ADON also assists the Assisted Living Manager in establishing and interpreting nursing policies and contributes to overall staff development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the admission process, including recruiting and interviewing prospective residents, completing admission and evaluation documentation, and ensuring functional assessments are properly recorded.
- Assist in the recruitment, training, supervision, and discipline of Personal Care Aides and Nurses.
- Participate in stand-up meetings, care conferences, risk meetings, and other assigned meetings.
- Ensure the protection and enforcement of all Resident Rights and Responsibilities.
- Ensure compliance with all State Rules and Regulations governing Assisted Living.
- Aid in the completion of all state-mandated assessments.
- Maintain all records and communications as required by state agencies.
- Manage the transfer/discharge process, ensuring smooth transitions for residents to higher levels of care and providing counseling to resident representatives as needed.
- Provide guidance to staff on specific resident issues in collaboration with the DON.
- Oversee charge nurses and CNAs.
- Communicate with relevant agencies.
- Focus on Memory Care within the community.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Supervise staff to ensure the provision of quality services in a compassionate environment that promotes resident independence and self-respect.
- Coordinate with department directors and supervisors to schedule all services provided to residents.
QUALIFICATIONS
Educational Requirements and Experience:
- Registered Nurse (preferred)
- Knowledge and experience with long-term care regulations.
- Familiarity with the dementia disease process and management experience in a Memory Care unit (preferred).
