The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) plays a vital role in supporting the Director of Nursing Services in managing and maintaining high-quality care within the facility. The ADON is responsible for various administrative and clinical duties, ensuring effective communication, compliance, and staff management to meet the healthcare needs of residents. This position requires a proactive leader with excellent communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Management: Assist with management responsibilities, focusing on maintaining and improving the quality of care.
- Wound/Skin Care: Conduct weekly wound and skin rounds to monitor and address resident needs.
- Compliance and Communication: Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and facilitate effective communication among all levels of nursing staff.
- Resident Care: Meet the medical needs of all residents, ensuring they receive comprehensive and compassionate care.
- On-Call Duty: Be available 24/7 to address urgent nursing concerns and emergencies.
- Service Coordination: Coordinate and oversee the planning and implementation of nursing services.
- Nursing Knowledge: Maintain a thorough understanding of general nursing theory and practice.
- Medical Records: Ensure the accurate and timely completion of medical records.
- Staff Management: Assist with interviewing, hiring, and orienting new nursing staff. Oversee the daily staffing process to ensure adequate coverage.
- Infection Control: Manage and oversee infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for residents and staff.
- Flexibility: Maintain a flexible work schedule to address unpredictable needs and support the nursing team effectively.
Qualifications:
- Licensure: Must possess a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in long-term care settings. Preferred: 2 years of management experience and 1 year of staff education experience.
- Skills: Excellent communication skills, evidence of basic leadership skills, and the ability to supervise effectively.
- Availability: Must be willing to work flexible hours as required.
