Job Description
PURPOSE OF POSITION - To oversee Data Management, Data Reporting and Data Engineering for the Revenue Integrity Department
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES - Oversees Data Engineering functions for the Department including SQL Query Development; Data Validation, Data Governance, and Data Integrity; Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) functions; and Automation of Reports and Distribution
Summary Of Duties And Responsibilities
- Data Engineer/Subject Matter Expert Database Structures
- Epic Clarity Database - The Epic Clarity Database has over a thousand data tables each with multiple columns. To create reports, data elements need to be joined across tables and further refined by SQL scripts that filter the data to meet reporting requirements.
- H+H Snowflake Platform - H+H has combined many data sources, including EPIC Clarity on the new Snowflake Platform. The Assistant Director will oversee the translation of all SQL queries written for the Epic Clarity Database into the new table structures in Snowflake. This process will take several months and can only be done with a person well versed in Epic Clarity, with strong SQL skills and with revenue cycle knowledge
- Member of Data Champion Team to assist in Providing Reports for H+H
- Data Validation, Governance, Integrity
- Will review all SQL Queries written by 5 Department Data Analysts to validate the data before Reports can be distributed to internal and external requestors.
- Will validate selected H+H Dashboards to make sure the data being shared throughout the Corporation is consistent with internal queries in Epic Clarity.
- For data residing on the Finance SQL Server and data used for financial reporting.
- The Department creates its own data views of data from external sources to facilitate the process of responding to Data Requests. The Assistant Direct will enhance those data sets by adding additional columns that further refine the data.
- Responsible for daily Census Reporting and for weekly Operation Utilization Reports including statistics on admissions, discharges, and length of stay
- Responsible for Revenue Forecasts and reviewing revenue assumptions for Business Plans
- Inpatient Payment Methodologies including Medicaid APR DRG, Hybrid Per Diem/DRG;
- Medicare MS-DRG, Rehab Case Mix Group, Psych Hybrid Per Diem/DRG
- Knowledge of Outpatient Payment Methodologies including Medicaid APGs, Medicare APCs, and Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (PFS)
- Knowledge of Managed Care payment methodologies including Medicaid Clinical Risk
- Groups (CRG), Medicare Hierarchical Chronic Conditions (HCC)
- Responsible for all Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) functions
- Hospital Utilization and Revenue
- Knowledge of Reimbursement Methodologies:
- Develops Microsoft Access database applications to improve workflow
Minimum Qualifications
1. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline with an emphasis on accounting and financial systems; and two (2) years of responsible-level experience in fiscal management or administration with an emphasis on financial systems, management information and controls, one (1) year of which must have been in a responsible administrative or managerial capacity; or
2. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed in “1” above; and three (3) years of experience, as described in “1” above, one (1) year of which must have been in a responsible administrative or managerial capacity.
