Reporting to the Director of Community Outreach & Conference Services, the Assistant Director of Community Outreach & Conference Services will be responsible for managing and supporting implementation and maintenance of community organization-based recruitment initiatives and camps and conferences services operations.
You will:
- Support enrollment partnership and community outreach programming and events, leveraging internal and external stakeholders
- Manage Pre-college programs, including admissions process & applicant decisions, serving as primary advisor and monitoring experience of participants and re-engagement with the University.
- Travel and represent the University as necessary related to the generation of new contracts with external organizations, community outreach initiatives, and recruitment events.
- Development and task management of student workers, including weekend and overnight support.
- Maintain Faculty Visit Program operations, including creating calendar, sourcing new sessions, coordinating faculty presenters, traveling to present as needed.
- Independently resolve conflicts and problem solve related to events & programming processes.
- Generate new and renewal of existing academic articulation agreements, primarily program to program appendices.
- Assist in responding to Conference Services inquiries, including walk-throughs with prospective clients, drafting quotes outlining financial commitments, and building itineraries.
- Support maintenance of conference and event calendars.
- Develop, negotiate pricing, and maintain inventory of approved service providers for external requests and supplies related to Conference Services events.
- Help manage Summer Youth Academy operations, including communications, supply orders, and customer experience during evening and overnight components.
- Overnight stays and management of resident buildings will be necessary during periods of the summer.
- Regularly review and recommend updates to content on the University website to keep community outreach and conference services information accurate.
- Timely, effective, and professional communication with external and internal stakeholders.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Community Outreach and Conference Services to support overall operation of division and University.
You need:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- English/Spanish/Mandarin bilingual skills preferred.
- CRM Slate experience preferred.
- Ability to represent the University of New Haven in a variety of situations and be able to competently interact with a diverse population of prospective students, faculty, and staff.
- Must demonstrate commitment to enrolling and retaining a diverse student body. A proactive approach to enhancing internal and external customer experience is required.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; Demonstrate tact & discretion.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills. Reliable follow-through is key.
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite required.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds is required for the travel component of the position.
- Ability and willingness to supervise on campus overnight during high volume Summer Youth Academy and Conference sessions, as needed.
- Professional presentation and demeanor are required.
- Experience working in higher education environment is desired.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive and private information.
- Work independently and effectively contribute on a team while adhering to deadlines.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours, including early morning, evening and weekends is necessary and expected; extensive summer hours and specific availability in July will be necessary.
- Valid driver's license.
