Job Summary
The Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program at the David Eccles School of Business, University of Utah, seeks an innovative and driven professional to serve as Assistant Director. This role is critical to the program's growth, strategic direction, and commitment to providing an exceptional student experience. The Assistant Director will oversee key aspects of program management, student services, and stakeholder engagement, collaborating with faculty, staff, alumni, and industry partners to ensure the MHA program remains a leader in healthcare administration education.
As a visible leader within the MHA program, the Assistant Director will champion program excellence, support strategic recruiting efforts, and enhance student engagement. The Assistant Director will also ensure compliance with accreditation standards, with a specific focus on maintaining CAHME accreditation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, exceptional organizational skills, and a passion for higher education and healthcare administration.
Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Operations:
- Act as a key leader and advocate for the MHA program, representing it within the university and in the local and national community.
- Oversee day-to-day program operations, ensuring seamless coordination of activities and effective resource management.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to maintain a cutting-edge curriculum that meets the needs of healthcare professionals.
- Develop and implement strategies to elevate program rankings, student satisfaction, and overall program quality.
- Lead the planning and execution of student engagement events, orientation sessions, and community-building initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with CAHME accreditation standards, including preparing reports, collecting data, and facilitating accreditation reviews.
- Monitor program performance through student feedback, industry trends, and data analysis to recommend improvements.
- Provide personalized advising to students, addressing academic planning, registration, and graduation requirements.
- Develop and execute strategies to support student retention and success, including tracking student progress and offering targeted interventions.
- Lead onboarding and orientation processes for new students to ensure a strong start to their academic journey.
- Foster a vibrant program community by building relationships with students, alumni, and industry professionals.
- Support recruiting efforts by engaging prospective students, representing the program at events, and providing detailed program information.
- Collaborate with the admissions team to attract and enroll high-caliber candidates who align with program goals.
- Develop and manage pre-onboarding sessions to ensure a seamless transition for new students.
- Build and maintain relationships with industry professionals and healthcare organizations to enhance networking opportunities and program reputation.
- Partner with internal teams, including career services and admissions, to deliver exceptional student support and engagement.
- Represent the MHA program in professional organizations and at events to promote its visibility and prestige.
- Manage program budgets effectively, ensuring expenditures align with program objectives and university guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related area of assignment or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of assigned department's area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department.
Master's degree in a related area may be preferred.

- Familiarity with healthcare administration or experience in the healthcare field is highly desirable.
- A Master's degree in a related field (e.g., Healthcare Administration, Business Administration) is preferred.

- Proven problem-solving ability in a dynamic environment with competing priorities.
- Experience in higher education, student services, or program management is an advantage.
