The Assistant Director uses skills as a seasoned and experienced administrative operations professional to manage, plan and administer the operations of the Humanities Center, a mid-sized unit in the School of Humanities. The position demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. The Assistant Director reports to the Humanities Center Executive Director, supervises three program managers and four student assistants. The position manages center and program budgets, as well as grant award budgets. The position is responsible for the Humanities Center internal grants program that supports faculty and graduate student research, including grant application and award management, peer review and applicant relations, and evaluation and reporting.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $85,400- $121,100 (Annual).
Required:
- Advanced knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and / or personnel management.
- Advanced interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
- Advanced knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.
- Advanced knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs, such as KFS, AP Recruit, and HR hiring platform.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Advanced skills in short- and long-term strategic planning, analysis, problem-solving and customer service.
- Advanced knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and / or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.
- Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
- Strong ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively with internal and external peers and managers.
- Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- 4-6 years Experience in increasingly responsible administrative management positions that include budget management.
Preferred:
- Doctorate in related area and/or equivalent experience training preferred
