GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Assistant Director Enterprise Technology directs and supervises staff and resources to assure efficient and effective operations. The Assistant Director is responsible for overseeing the organization's storage and UNIX server infrastructure and ensuring that it is reliable, scalable, and secure. The Assistant Director manages a team of storage and UNIX server administrators, engineers, and technicians, and works closely with other IT and business stakeholders to ensure that the storage and UNIX server infrastructure meets the needs of the organization. The Assistant Director is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining storage and UNIX server hardware, software, backup and recovery systems, as well as monitoring storage and UNIX server performance, identifying and resolving issues, and making recommendations for storage and UNIX server upgrades and improvements. the Assistant Director is responsible for managing the budget for storage and UNIX server technology, communicating regularly with stakeholders, and ensuring that the storage and UNIX server infrastructure is in compliance with relevant regulations and standards. May be responsible for disaster recovery planning and business continuity management, as well as ensuring the security of the storage and UNIX server infrastructure and data.
Serves as member of Information Systems Division’s (ISD) IT Leadership team, with organizational impact focused on tactical, operation planning (with goal setting) and implementation over the short to mid-term (1-2 years).
**RESPONSIBILITIES:**
**ENTERPRISE TECHNOLOGY OVERSIGHT:**
+ Oversees the design, implementation, and maintenance of an organization's Storage and UNIX server infrastructure, including storage and UNIX server hardware, software, and backup and recovery systems.
+ Responsible for ensuring the security of an organization's storage and UNIX server systems, including implementing and enforcing security policies and procedures, monitoring storage and UNIX server activity for suspicious behavior, and taking action to address security threats.
+ Monitors the performance of the Storage and UNIX server infrastructure to ensure that it is running smoothly and efficiently. Monitors storage and UNIX server utilization, identifies and resolves storage and UNIX server performance issues, and makes recommendations for storage and UNIX server upgrades and improvements.
+ Manages a team of storage and UNIX server administrators, engineers, and technicians. Sets goals, provides feedback and coaching, and ensures that team members have the resources and support they need to succeed.
+ Responsible for managing the budget for storage and UNIX server technology, including hardware and software purchases, maintenance and support contracts, and staffing costs. Develops and manages a budget plan, tracks expenses, and makes recommendations for cost-saving measures.
+ Communicates regularly with stakeholders, including senior management, other department heads, and external vendors and partners. Provides regular status updates on storage and UNIX server performance and security, makes recommendations for storage and UNIX server improvements, and collaborates with other departments to ensure that storage and UNIX server needs are met.
+ Responsible for developing and implementing disaster recovery and business continuity plans for the storage and UNIX server infrastructure. Identifies potential risks and vulnerabilities, develops plans to minimize the impact of disruptions, and tests and updates plans on a regular basis.
+ Responsible for ensuring that the Storage and UNIX server and UNIX server infrastructure is in compliance with relevant regulations and standards, such as HIPAA, PCI, and GDPR. Stays up-to-date on regulatory requirements, implements appropriate controls and procedures, and conducts regular audits and assessments. Responsible for making moderate to significant improvements in systems, processes or products to enhance performance of level area.
+ Problems faced are moderately complex to complex and require extensive investigation and analysis.
**STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT:**
+ Creates and fosters relationships with relevant clinical and operational teams.
+ Works with IT Service Management teams to develop end-to-end change, incident, and problem management processes. Ensures that all incidents are handled in a timely and appropriate manner and acts as a primary point of escalation during critical incidents.
+ Communicates with stakeholders within and outside of own area, and may include external communications external to the department.
+ Influences others on policies, practices, and procedures within area of expertise.
**TEAM LEADERSHIP:**
+ Manages a team of engineers in support of execution technology operations and projects across URMC, including affiliates across the region.
+ Leads career development efforts for direct reports and the full Enterprise Technology team. Provides coaching/mentoring to standardize best practices across all team activities.
+ Champion for continuous improvement as demonstrated by personal example.
+ Leads a high-performance Enterprise Technology team, establishing clear goals, opportunities and career trajectories for team members assigned. Allocates and assigns personnel and technical resources to meet enterprise needs. Typically has hiring, firing, promotion, performance and reward authority with manager review and approval.
**BUDGET OVERSIGHT:**
+ Responsible for one or more elements of an operating or capital program budget.
+ Plans, manages, and participates in relevant ISD capital and operating budgeting processes. Maintains an ongoing awareness of project resources in relation to budget plan parameters and rate of spend for use in decision making and influence in assigned area and across ISD.
**GENERAL:**
+ Keeps abreast of industry standards, practices and new technologies to enhance key stakeholder satisfaction with Information Technology Services.
+ Serves as an active member of the ISD IT Leaders team. Collaborates with team on new policy, interpretation, updates and the setting of new department wide initiatives. Makes recommendations on employee engagement, motivation, retention and growth of staff.
+ Subscribes to and models URMC ICARE and Meliora values.

**QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Engineering, or other related field required.
+ Graduate degree preferred
+ or equivalent combination of education and experience required
+ Experience in an academic medical center or health-system preferred
+ 4-5 years of management level related experience required
+ 13-15 years related experience preferred
+ Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization including with executives, physicians, and nurses, with the ability to discuss technical information in a meaningful way with persons of varying levels of expertise preferred.
+ Ability to demonstrate objectivity, sensitivity, and a balanced perspective regarding employee concerns and organizational issues preferred.
+ Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to create clear, concise and prompt communications required.
+ Strong follow-through skills with ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously required.
+ Exhibits managerial courage. Willing to take calculated risks and to speak up for the best interests of the team required.

**Pay Range**
Pay Range: $95,300 - $143,000
_The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._
