About the Job
Malvern Day Camp (MDC) Camp Assistant Counselor is responsible for the assistance to the Head Counselor in the supervision of the campers, promoting and actively participating in all camp activities, providing a safe and fun learning environment, and serving as a positive role model for summer campers. The Assistant Counselor reports to the Head Counselor with the group.
The hours of this full-time, seasonal position are from 8:30am-4:30pm*, Monday through Friday. Malvern Day Camp runs from May 19th to mid August 2025. There will be mandatory training dates before camp begins.
Opportunities exist for additional compensation to work extended day program before or after regular camp hours.

Responsibilities include:
Assist with group supervision of campers

Work effectively with co-counselors and collaborate on daily responsibilities
Serve as a positive role model to campers
Assistant Counselors are employed in the following camps:
Mini Camp 5-8 year olds
Junior Camp: 7-9 year olds
Senior Camp: 10-12 year olds
Requirements
Previous experience working in a day camp setting (preferred).
Previous experience working with children; examples include, but are not limited to: camp counselor, tutoring, youth volunteer, or classroom assistant if no prior camp experience
Follow the Malvern Day Camp policies and procedures
Minimum of 16 years of age
Required upon hire
Completed Background Checks (FBI, Child Abuse, Criminal, NSOR)
Willingness to complete additional training (Mandated reporting, First Aid/CPR, Water Safety, etc.)
