- Complexity of the role: A primary responsibility of the Assistant Controller is to oversee the offshore shared service center supporting Accounting, Accounts Payable and Payroll processes. This position will be responsible for maintaining timely, accurate financial records; performing financial analyses; assisting in audits; looking after AP payment transactions and the overall financial commitments of our company and will need to ensure our accurate, timely reporting. The candidate for this position must have a clear understanding of IFRS guidance and accounting processes and be able to offer technical guidance for new pronouncements and business models.
What are the Key Deliverables in this role?
Financial Outcomes
- Ensure the company’s compliance with IFRS guidelines including technical interpretation of any new pronouncements and/or business models.
- Identify and solve any issues creating variances between ledgers and subledgers.
- Analyze and reconcile assigned accounts during the month end close. Review accounting shared service center account reconciliations.
- Coordinate timekeeping and payroll systems; oversee processing of payroll changes (i.e. - new hires, terminations, raises) and system upgrades.
Customer Service
- Assist with internal and external reporting.
- Participate in internal and external audits as well as quarterly reviews, including payroll audits.
Internal Processes
- Oversee all tax-related AP processes, i.e. - 1099 tax information, preparation and submission.
- Oversee all payment transactions such as ACH, wires, paper checks and so on.
- Manage the offshore shared service center for payroll, accounts payable and accounting teams:
- Administer payroll for US employees.
- Process US Accounts Payable transactions and mange vendor relationships.
- Monthly, quarterly, and annual closure of the accounting books and related reconciliations and audit support.
- Accounting for coffee hedging.
Innovation and Learning
- Participate in ad hoc reporting as directed and complete special projects as they are assigned .
- Foster Innovation and process optimization.
- Lead integration of wire payments from SAP to bank.
Requirements
What are the Critical success factors for the Role?
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, MBA preferred.
- CPA required.
- 5+ years of corporate and/or public accounting experience, payroll experience.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS reporting requirements.
- Experience with SAP and ADP systems a plus.
- Hedge accounting experience preferred.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering actionable insights and innovative solutions.

- Advanced Excel skills and well-developed PC skills particularly in applications such as Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Ability to function individually with minimal supervision as well as working in a team environment.
- Willing to take the lead and put forth new ideas that look at processes in a critical manner to help further advance the Company.
