*This is an onsite position - 5 days a week from 8am - 5pm *
As an Assistant Controller, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
1. Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements and budget performance.
2. Ensure compliance with applicable standards, rules, regulations, and systems of internal control.
3. Aid in the implementation of new accounting policies, standards, and guidelines.
4. Provide accurate, timely, and relevant recording, reporting, and analysis of financial information.
5. Identify areas for improvement and implement improvements to processes.
6. Assist with and act as the main point of contact for auditor requests.
7. Handle the company's financial and accounting activities, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, and forecasting.
8. Oversee the operation of the accounting department, or in some cases, outsourced service providers.
9. Assist in the management and coordination of activities of the financial team.
10. Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of business results.
11. Collaborate with executive leadership to define financial strategy and policy.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must have:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. CPA license or eligible to sit for CPA
3. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the manufacturing industry (but not required)
3. Extensive knowledge of the financial reporting, general ledger, cost accounting, financial analysis, fixed asset accounting, credit card management, commission accounting, cash management, forecasting, accounts payable, management accounting, and 1099s.
4. Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
5. High proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly in Excel, and familiarity with accounting software and databases.
6. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and management skills.
7. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
8. An ability to drive to results; self-motivated and self-directed with a keen attention to detail.
9. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem-solving, and results.
