Assistant Controller / Tax Manager - Arkansas Talent Group

Arkansas Talent Group is searching for an Assistant Controller / Tax Manager for a large Construction Company in Little Rock. This is a newly created position due to growth and succession planning for someone to eventually step into a Controller seat upon a retirement. Position will report directly to the Controller and also handle a lot of special projects directly for the CFO. Assistant Controller / Tax Manager will assist the company on all aspects of tax with an emphasis on Sales Tax and learn and oversee the general accounting functions of the accounting department.

Duties would include:

• Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
• Analyze financial data and provide insights to senior management
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
• Prepare and review sales tax reports, reconciliations, and related financial documentation
  Generate and maintain records of sales tax transactions, exemptions, and credits
• Prepare for and manage sales tax audits, including responding to auditor requests and negotiating settlements
• Manage all aspects of tax compliance, including federal, state, and local taxes
• Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations
• Develop tax strategies to minimize the company's tax liability
• Provide guidance on tax implications of business decisions
• Coordinate with external tax advisors as needed
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets

Qualifications:

• Bachelors in Accounting
• 3+ years of experience preferably in Public Accounting Tax or Corporate Tax
• Experience with Sales Tax highly preferred
• Proficient use in Tax Software and Excel
• Ability to problem solve, research, and communicate
• CPA is a plus, but not required
