We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Assistant Controller to join our team in the construction industry. This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding environment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the financial management of our organization, contributing to our strategic objectives and helping us achieve our mission. This role involves overseeing critical financial operations, including month-end processes, payroll, monthly job & subcontractor billings, and other construction-specific accounting tasks.
Responsibilities:
As an Assistant Controller, you will be entrusted with a diverse array of responsibilities that are pivotal to the financial health and success of our organization. These include:
1. Overseeing the month-end close process, ensuring all financial data is accurate, complete, and in compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
2. Managing payroll functions, ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time, and that all payroll taxes and reports are filed correctly.
3. Handling monthly job & subcontractor billings, including reviewing and approving invoices, resolving billing issues, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date billing records.
4. Providing financial expertise in construction-specific accounting matters, such as job costing, work-in-progress reports, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
5. Assisting with the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts, and providing insightful analysis to support decision-making.
6. Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards in financial and tax matters.
7. Collaborating with other departments and stakeholders to streamline processes, improve financial performance, and achieve organizational goals.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you will need most of the following:
1. A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. Experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the construction industry.
3. Extensive knowledge and experience with month-end processes, payroll management, and industry-specific accounting tasks.
4. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and provide insightful recommendations.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with all levels of the organization.
6. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
7. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
