About the Job
The Assistant Controller assists the Controller in managing financial reporting and compliance. Key duties include preparing financial statements, analyzing data, ensuring record accuracy, collaborating with auditors, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and implementing internal controls.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• CPA or pertinent master's degree favorable.
• Experience with Viewpoint or similar ERP software and database management.
• Proactive in seeking new challenges and asking questions.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:
• BS/BA in Accounting or Finance
• At least 5 years combined experience in public and industry accounting.
• At least 3 years basic supervisory skills.
• Construction accounting knowledge
• Strong understanding of GAAP.
• Strong proficiency with Excel and Outlook.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
• Proficiency in standard project management software tools.
• Commitment to teamwork and continuous improvement
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
• Assist in preparing financial and management reports for Corporate Executives.
• Manage month-end closing and reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare bank covenants.
• Review cost studies, monitor project closures, and interface with external auditors.
• Work on financial projections, metrics, modeling, and analyses.
• Assist with ERP upgrades and new software implementations.
• Design and improve accounting policies and internal controls.
• Oversee compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
• Manage payroll tax returns, sales & use tax returns, property tax filings, GL metrics, and monthly group metrics.
• Participate in tax preparation, audits, and financial statement reviews with external CPA.
• Provide training and technical advice to team members, and monitor their performance and development.
Physical Demands
• This role involves regular office visits.
• Sitting/Standing: remaining in stationary positions often standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time.
• Driving: Travel is required. Operation of a motorized passenger vehicle.
• Speaking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey
detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately.
• Hearing: ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds in person speech, telephone, and virtual remote speech.
• Keyboarding: working on a computer entering text or data into a computer or other machine through a traditional keyboard.
• Vision: specific vision abilities including close vision and ability to adjust focus. Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less including use of computers. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more, for driving purposes. Glasses or contact lenses are acceptable components to reach
this physical demand.
• Lift, push, pull: Able to push, pull, lift up to 20 pounds at time, ability to lift files, laptops, office desk items, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool, as necessary.
