This individual will play a pivotal role in our financial management department, overseeing the company's budgets, capital expenses, sales reporting, and analysis. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the consumer goods sector and have significant manufacturing experience. This position requires a minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience.
The ideal Assistant Controller has a passion for strategy, as well as tactical day-to-day experience. The Assistant Controller will work closely with the FP&A Manager and their roles will compliment each other. Responsibilities:
As an Assistant Controller, you will be responsible for:
1. Assisting the Controller in managing and overseeing all facets of our accounting operations, including the monthly and annual financial close process.
2. Developing, implementing, and maintaining budgeting systems that provide control of expenditures made to carry out activities, such as advertising and marketing, production and labor, maintenance, or project activities.
3. Analyzing and interpreting financial data and recommending changes to improve systems and financial performance.
4. Assisting in the preparation and execution of capital expense budgets, tracking actual costs relative to budget, and reporting variances.
5. Providing timely sales reporting and analysis to support the sales team in strategic decision-making processes.
6. Coordinating with the Controller to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit and the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
7. Collaborating with the other department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.
8. Monitoring and analyzing department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
9. Responding to inquiries from the Controller, Firmwide Director of Accounting, and other finance and firmwide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests, etc.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this role should possess the following qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA preferred).
2. 5+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the manufacturing industry.
3. Extensive experience with budget development and oversight, capital expense management, sales reporting, and financial analysis.
4. Solid understanding of the consumer goods industry.
5. Proven project management skills with the ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
8. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
9. Knowledge of ERP systems and related technologies.
10. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is preferred.
