Job Description: Assistant Controller
Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller to join our finance team. This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting process improvements, and ensuring the efficient execution of accounting operations. The ideal candidate will contribute to system implementations, assist with quarterly close processes, and provide overall support to the Controller in achieving organizational financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Quarterly Close: Oversee and manage the preparation and completion of quarterly financial close processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement reviews.
System Implementation Support: Collaborate with the finance and IT teams during system implementations or upgrades, including data migration, system testing, and user training.
Process Improvements: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations and reporting.
Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
Internal Controls: Maintain and strengthen internal controls, ensuring adherence to regulatory and organizational standards.
Team Management: Provide guidance and mentorship to accounting staff, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
Audit Support: Coordinate with external auditors during audits and provide requested documentation and analyses.
Day-to-Day Accounting: Oversee general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and other routine accounting tasks.
Budget Assistance: Collaborate with the Controller to support budgeting and forecasting activities as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
Experience with system implementations and process optimization is highly desirable.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a collaborative mindset.
