We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and experienced Assistant Controller to join our thriving Accounting + Finance team. This position plays a pivotal role in managing the financial health of our organization by maintaining precise records, analyzing financial data, and preparing monthly reports.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general ledger (GL) management, fixed assets, and monthly reporting. They will be expected to bring a strategic perspective to daily operational activities, provide insights into financial performance, and support the Controller in all areas of financial management.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Controller in managing all aspects of accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
2. Coordinate and prepare financial statements.
3. Oversee the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
4. Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
5. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
6. Coordinate the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
7. Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
8. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports regarding net revenue losses and gains, operating costs, and all other financial activities of the company.
9. Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations.
10. Develop strategies to improve financial performance by analyzing cost variances and recommending corrective actions.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
2. 5+ years of proven experience in an Assistant Controller role or similar, with 10+ years of experience in progressive roles in Accounting.
3. Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced knowledge of accounting software.
5. Demonstrated experience with month-end close processes, fixed asset management, cost accounting, and general ledger management.
6. Strong analytical skills with a thorough attention to detail.
7. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial data to C-Suite.
8. Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
9. Strong understanding of business and income tax worksheets and computations.
10. Demonstrated leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results.
