About the Position:
The Assistant Controller is an integral member of the Accounting management team and provides support to the Controller by assisting with budget management, audits, 990 preparation, projects, and reviewing & approving GL transactions, and reconciling GL accounts.
Essential Work You Will Do:
- Support to Controller
- Assist the Controller with Budget management by performing budget transfers and allocations of budget funds as requested by individual budget managers.
- Assist with payroll, review sales order, review vendor information for accuracy as circumstances require and manage banking/cash flow.
- Assist with Year-End financial statement and retirement plan audit preparation.
- Assist with annual 990 tax return preparation.
- Manage all aspects of the general ledger, including recording transactions, reconciling accounts and reviewing monthly financial statements.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and other calculations to assist in analyzing the financial operations of the organization.
- Research accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Performs research and attend trainings to ensure that technical skills are up to date on any new accounting standards that may affect the organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Other Work You May Do:
- Attends national meetings and conferences.
- Attends meetings and provides opinion and feedback.
- Serves on, and participates in, internal organizational committees.
- Advise on procedure and financial management policies.
- Other projects as assigned by the Controller and VP of Finance
Work Environment/Travel:
- Time will be spent in an office setting at the national office in Salt Lake City Utah
- Work hours will vary depending on partner schedules, project deadlines, and the needs of the organization.
- A willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
Education and Experience:
- Knowledge of accounting and financial principles, regulations and best practices
- Knowledge of general business and management principles.
- Involved in planning, leadership, fundraising, customer service and coordination of people and resources to meet customer needs.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for promoting and selling the unique fundraising services of CMN Hospitals.
- 3-5+ years of relevant experience in combination with a bachelor’s degree
- Advanced degree such as MAcc, or MBA are typically required.
- You are a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or working towards becoming a CPA
- Public accounting experience is preferred
