Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team. In this role, you will oversee day-to-day accounting processes, financial reporting, and support functions while collaborating closely with the VP Corporate Finance & Controller on treasury, tax, and risk management activities. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate and timely monthly reporting, maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, and uphold strong accounting principles to guarantee precise financial statements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage the preparation and distribution of financial reports to internal and external stakeholders, effectively communicating the company's performance and projections.
- Oversee site accounting activities, including close cycles and consolidations, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and adherence to internal controls.
- Support automated systems and manual procedures for accounting and auditing to ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory standards.
- Assist in technical accounting research, analyzing the impact of new standards and implementing changes as needed.
- Supervise daily banking operations within company guidelines for receipt and disbursement of funds.
- Provide support for federal, state, and local tax accounting and compliance, including collaboration with external auditors.
- Lead and manage the Corporate Accounting team, ensuring a sound organizational structure and proper resource allocation.
- Establish annual goals and conduct performance evaluations for direct reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support company objectives.
Required Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong process orientation with a focus on internal controls and operational excellence.
- Proven ability to deliver timely and accurate results in a team-based environment.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Experience with financial systems, preferably Great Plains and Host Analytics.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and reprioritize projects accordingly.
Required Certifications, Licenses, Education, and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of accounting, financial reporting, and management experience required.
- Mix of public and private company experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and auditing standards.
- Experience leading and developing diverse teams.
Preferred Education, Licenses, Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- CPA strongly preferred.
