We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Controller to join our team. This role is a key member of our finance team and will be instrumental in driving financial planning and analysis, cost accounting, and financial reporting. This is a full-time, permanent position that offers competitive compensation and benefits.
Responsibilities:
1. Assisting in preparing financial reports such as financial statements and budget performance.
2. Ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reports and statements.
3. Overseeing and managing the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
4. Coordinating the preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.
5. Managing the company's tax planning and compliance with all tax filings.
6. Analyzing and reporting cost variances, identifying trends, and making recommendations for improvements.
7. Evaluating accounting and internal control systems and implementing changes to improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of these systems.
8. Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and reporting requirements.
9. Supporting the Controller in ensuring departmental goals and objectives are met in a timely and efficient manner.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this role should possess the following:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master’s degree or CPA would be considered an asset.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
3. Proficiency in financial reporting, cost accounting, general ledger, audit, and tax filing.
4. Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
5. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. Excellent leadership and team management skills.
7. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
8. Strong IT skills, particularly in financial software and MS Office.
9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
