Growing Hedge Fund with 60billion in AUM is looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join their team.
This position is responsible for the financial oversight and operational management of a flagship Registered Investment Company (RIC). The ideal candidate will lead the initial launch and implementation of controls, manage ongoing regulatory reporting, and oversee fund accounting and auditing processes. The role also involves contributing to cross-functional fund management for both open- and closed-ended fund structures while mentoring and coaching team members.
Primary Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the financial oversight and operational management of a flagship Registered Investment Company (RIC). The ideal candidate will lead the initial launch and implementation of controls, manage ongoing regulatory reporting, and oversee fund accounting and auditing processes. The role also involves contributing to cross-functional fund management for both open- and closed-ended fund structures while mentoring and coaching team members.
- Lead the launch of the initial RIC, establishing operational controls and onboarding service providers.
- Develop and maintain effective financial reporting and compliance frameworks to meet regulatory obligations.
- Collaborate with fund accountants and administrators to maintain accurate daily books and NAV calculations.
- Oversee quarterly and annual filings, including 10-K and 10-Q submissions.
- Prepare and review quarterly board materials.
- Ensure all financial reporting adheres to regulatory standards and internal controls
- Review monthly accounting packages, daily P&L, investor allocations, and reconciliations.
- Analyze monthly performance metrics such as ROE and IRR and oversee fee calculations for management and incentive charges.
- Review financial statements and notes, coordinating with administrators and auditors for year-end reporting processes
- Experience:
- Minimum of 7+ years in fund management, preferably at a Registered Investment Company.
- Prior experience in public accounting and CPA designation preferred.
- Strong understanding of SEC requirements for Registered Investment Companies, including regulatory filings.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, performance metrics, and fund management best practices.
