Title: Assistant Controller
Location: Hybrid within the Northeast Region
Description:
The Assistant Controller will oversee critical accounting, regulatory reporting, and management functions, supporting the organization's financial operations. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, the ability to work under tight deadlines, and consistent delivery of accurate, high-quality analyses. Reporting to the Controller and CFO, the Assistant Controller will drive operational efficiency and maintain the highest regulatory and accounting standards.
Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including month-end close, financial statement preparation, general ledger reconciliation, and financial reporting.
Oversee financial and regulatory audits, tax compliance, and preparation of returns at federal, state, and local levels.
Supervise the preparation of financial reporting packages for senior management review.
Collaborate with the accounting team to optimize processes and manage close checklists.
Conduct research and implement new accounting standards as necessary.
Provide accurate and timely accounting data in response to management inquiries.
Monitor credit covenants, manage cash flow analysis, and contribute to monthly reporting packages.
Support initiatives aimed at enhancing financial processes and operational efficiencies.
Ensure timely completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
Develop and maintain financial policies, controls, and processes.
Identify and implement workflow enhancements to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Perform ad hoc financial analyses as needed.
Required Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business (or equivalent experience).
CPA designation required (Big 4 public accounting experience preferred).
5+ years of supervisory experience managing financial teams, particularly within broker-dealer environments.
In-depth knowledge of GAAP accounting and technical accounting research.
Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with accounting systems such as Sage Intacct, Bill.com, and Expensify.
Demonstrated history of process improvement and operational efficiency.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with discretion and sound judgment.
Desired Skills:
Series 24 license is a strong plus.
Experience with a wide range of accounting systems, including ERP and procurement platforms.

Pay range: $160k-$180k/year
