Join our dynamic team as an Assistant Controller in the Manufacturing industry. This role is a unique blend of strategic planning, financial management, and leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the financial management of our organization, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures. Responsibilities:
- Assist in directing the financial activities of the organization including accounting, treasury, tax, investors relations, and risk management.
- Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports – financial statements, budget vs actual variance reports, etc.
- Oversee the preparation and communication of weekly and monthly financial statements.
- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
- Support month-end and year-end close process.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.
- Assist in the annual budgeting and planning process.
- Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations, and corporate/overhead cost allocation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or MBA preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of proven working experience as an Assistant Controller or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations.
- Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.)
- Understanding of data analysis and forecasting.
- Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel) and ERP software (e.g. SAP).
- Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to strategize and solve problems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and multitask.
- In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws and best practices.
- Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting.
- An analytical mind with strategic abilities.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Awareness of business trends.
- Familiarity with financial accounting statements.
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software packages.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.
- BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant.
- Relevant certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) will be preferred.
