Job Summary:
The Assistant Controller will work closely with the Plant Controller to oversee daily accounting operations, month-end closings, and financial reporting. This role includes cost accounting responsibilities, variance analysis, standard cost adjustments, and participation in key financial processes, ensuring alignment with corporate financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage daily cost accounting activities, including monitoring and reporting variances and revising standard costs.
Oversee general accounting functions such as fixed assets, inter-company transactions, and financial reporting.
Assist in preparing the monthly operations package, balanced scorecard, and financial indicators.
Perform and review account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Serve as a backup for payroll processing and cycle count programs.
Participate in physical inventories of fixed assets.
Support financial, internal, and governmental audit processes.
Assist in financial closings, including preparation of journal entries.
Conduct detailed financial analyses to support management’s decision-making.
Perform finance ASATs (Audit Self-Assessment Tool) and ensure 100% completion across departments.
Collaborate with the Plant Controller on forecasting and budgeting tasks.
Promote workplace safety and compliance with EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) regulations.
Report all incidents, including injuries and property damage, to supervisors.
Fulfill additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a standard cost accounting environment.
At least 5 years of experience in auditing or industry accounting roles.
Authorized to work in the United States (visa sponsorship is not available).
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA or CMA certification.
Experience with ERP systems such as Baan or Oracle.
5–7 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, standard cost systems, and managerial roles.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of GAAP principles.
Excellent analytical and strategic planning skills.
Proficiency with advanced Excel and accounting systems.
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.
Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to learning and adaptability.
