Job Details
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Controller to join our dynamic banking team. This exciting role will offer you the opportunity to enhance your leadership skills and financial expertise in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. This position will play a critical role in the overall financial management of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results.
Responsibilities:
As an Assistant Controller, your primary responsibilities will include:
1. Assisting the Controller in managing all aspects of the company's financial operations, including the production of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
2. Developing and maintaining a system of controls over accounting transactions to ensure the company's financial security.
3. Participating in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures, and making recommendations for improvements.
4. Coordinating with various departments to compile financial data and forecasts.
5. Assisting in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, and reporting variances.
6. Supervising the accounting staff and overseeing their daily operations and responsibilities.
7. Ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and international financial reporting standards.
8. Assisting the Controller in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Assistant Controller position should possess the following:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting and an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification
2. A minimum of 5 years of proven accounting experience, preferably in a leadership role.
3. Comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
4. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to motivate and inspire team members.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information.
6. Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information and complex financial concepts to non-financial audiences.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills. Experience with accounting software and systems is essential.
9. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
