Summary:
Reporting to the Head of Finance & Operations, the Assistant Controller will be responsible for an efficient and scalable accounting function while increasing analytical capabilities and improving financial transparency to all stakeholders. S/he will be a team player, capable of prioritizing, delegating, and executing projects in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. S/he will be a hands-on contributor who excels not only at execution but at process design as well. S/he will have significant visibility into all aspects of the business and play a pivotal role in our growth trajectory.
Responsibilities:
Accounting
- Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, cash/debt/treasury management, and tax compliance
- Manage month and quarter-end close processes and activities, including the preparation and review of journal entries and financial reporting to ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
- Collaborate with tax partners to ensure appropriate tax compliance, including sales tax and state/federal corporate tax returns and filings
- Work closely with the engineering team to identify inefficiencies and proactively streamline accounting operations through internally developed tools
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks
- Provide mentorship and support to a small accounting team
Strategic Finance
- Lead the financial planning process, including budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analyses
- Create a weekly cash flow “scorecard” to inform decision-making based on deposits, accounts receivables/payables, forecasting, and debt servicing
- Develop dashboard reporting to provide financial insights and analysis in support of strategic initiatives and cross-functional goals
- Implement a vendor management program to optimize buying power, negotiate volume discounts/rebates, and mitigate risks
- Foster relationships with banking partners and counterparts at clients
- Assist in M&A opportunities (as they arise), including modeling, diligence, and integration activities
- Other projects as needed
What You’ll Bring:

- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and precision
- Experience in preparing financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Mastery of the Microsoft Office Suite
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- At least 7 years of experience
- CPA preferred
- Public accounting experience preferred
- Advanced forecasting and financial modeling skills, including the implementation of data analysis tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Tableau) preferred
- Experience with Quickbooks Online, Google Workspace, Bill.com, and treasury products a plus
- Experience with carve-out financial statements a plus
