Job Description:
The Assistant Controller will play a key role in supporting the Controller in overseeing the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of management reports and presentations.
- General Ledger & Reconciliation:
- Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial records.
- Internal Controls:
- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining internal controls and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct periodic audits to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Support the budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Analyze budget variances and provide insights to management.
- Assist in financial planning and analysis activities.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions.
- Ensure timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
- Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to AP/AR.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
- Provide training and support to team members on accounting procedures and systems.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Special Projects:
- Assist in various special projects and initiatives as needed.
- Support the implementation of new accounting systems or processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2-4 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
