We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Controller to join our dynamic team in the Food Manufacturing industry. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence and drive change within the organization, providing support to the Controller in managing and optimizing our financial operations. The successful candidate will be involved in strategic planning, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and general ledger management. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong financial background who is looking to make a significant impact on our business operations.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the preparation and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
2. Conduct comprehensive financial analysis, prepare detailed budgets and forecasts, and present findings to senior management to aid strategic decision-making.
3. Oversee the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, cost accounting, etc.
4. Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
5. Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
6. Coordinate and complete annual audits, work with Controller and external auditors to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit.
7. Support Controller in ensuring that the company's financial reports comply with regulations and laws.
8. Develop and analyze cost accounting data and conduct appropriate audits to ensure accuracy.
9. Participate in strategic planning and business analysis to help the company achieve its goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. An MBA or CPA certification is preferred.
2. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role within the Manufacturing industry.
3. Strong knowledge of financial analysis, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, general ledger, financial statements, financial audits, cost accounting, strategic planning, and business analysis.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, etc.) and familiarity with accounting software.
5. Excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.
6. The ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple deadlines.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information and complex financial concepts to non-financial staff.
8. High attention to detail and accuracy, with a strong sense of urgency and professionalism.
9. A proactive problem solver who possesses strong decision-making skills.
