Assistant Controller at Creative Financial Staffing

Our client is a growing organization located near East Lansing, MI and they are looking for an Assistant Controller to join their team.

Responsibilities for Assistant Controller:

• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Support the budgeting and forecasting process by gathering and analyzing financial data.
• Collaborate with department heads to review budget variances and provide insights to improve financial performance.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies as needed.
• Support external audit and tax engagements by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Stay current on accounting standards and regulations to ensure compliance and best practices.

Qualifications for Assistant Controller:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA designation preferred.
• 4+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Experience in public accounting is a plus.
