Position: Assistant Controller
Location: Davie, FL
Job Summary:
The Assistant Controller will also play a key role in supervising and mentoring accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Work with the Controller to manage the daily working capital management of the business and subsidiaries, including the cash disbursement, cash application, and Treasury activities.
- Assist with coordinating the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
- Perform detailed reconciliations and analysis of various general ledger accounts.
- Implement and monitor effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Conduct periodic reviews to identify control weaknesses and recommend improvements.
- Act as a liaison with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and support during audits.
- Address audit findings and collaborate on the implementation of corrective actions.
- Assist in the preparation of tax returns, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
- Contribute to the development and evaluation of financial strategies to drive business growth.
- Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the professional development and growth of team members through training and mentorship.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5 years of experience in accounting/finance required
- CPA designation preferred
- Public accounting experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
- Strong technical, analytical, communication, and presentation skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
- Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems (Vista preferred)
