Assistant Controller/Controller-Construction-(California based onsite 100%-will relocate)

Position Overview:
The Controller will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing all financial and accounting functions within the company. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of management experience, a CPA certification, and a strong background in the construction industry. This individual will work closely with senior leadership to ensure the financial health of the organization, maintain accurate financial records, and oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management: Oversee all financial aspects of the construction business, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Project Costing & Job Tracking: Manage and monitor project costs, ensuring that expenses are properly allocated and that job costing and reporting are accurate.
- Cash Flow & Financial Planning: Develop and maintain cash flow projections, manage financial risks, and provide insights into improving profitability and operational efficiency.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with all accounting regulations and laws specific to the construction industry. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Team Management: Lead and supervise a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, support, and development.
- Financial Systems & Process Improvement: Implement and improve financial systems, processes, and internal controls to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.
- Tax & Audit: Oversee tax preparation and audits, ensuring the company remains in good standing with regulatory authorities.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of management experience in an accounting or financial role, preferably within the construction industry.
- Education: CPA certification is required.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong background in construction accounting, with expertise in project costing, job tracking, and construction-specific financial regulations.<
