Salary: $90,000 - $115,000 per year

We are a construction company focusing in HVAC for commercial and residential properties. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Controller OR Accounting Manager to join our team in the Construction industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the financial management of the company, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. The Assistant Controller will report directly to the Controller and will play a crucial role in providing financial insights that help the decision-making process and align capital and resource allocation within the business budget. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting, job cost, and financial statement preparation.
Experience in public accounting and/or a CPA is a PLUS! Industry focus in HVAC or Construction is also a huge plus!

Responsibilities:
1. Assist in leading Work in Progress (WIP) meetings, providing critical updates and insights on financial status and progress.
2. Oversee cash management procedures, ensuring optimal utilization of resources and maintaining financial stability.
3. Coordinate and assist in audit preparation, including annual 401K audits, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
4. Develop and manage comprehensive budgeting and forecasting models, providing strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization.
5. Manage month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reports.
6. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
7. Contribute to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.
8. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and filing financial reports.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA certification is a plus but not required.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry.
3. Extensive knowledge of construction accounting and job cost.
4. Proficiency in financial statement preparation and audit procedures.
5. Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
6. Excellent skills in managing and completing month-end and year-end close processes.
7. Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to manage and guide team members.
8. Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
9. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
10. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced knowledge of accounting software.
