Job Title: Assistant Controller
Job Summary:
The Assistant Controller will support the Controller in managing the financial operations of the company, with a focus on ensuring accurate financial reporting, job cost accounting, and regulatory compliance. This position will require strong accounting expertise, particularly in construction-specific accounting practices such as job costing, project billing, and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting. The Assistant Controller will collaborate with various departments to ensure financial integrity and help streamline financial processes to support the company's growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements).
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results, including consolidating reports for multiple entities if applicable.
- Support the Controller in analyzing financial performance and identifying trends and variances.
- Job Cost Accounting:
- Maintain accurate job costing records for all construction projects.
- Collaborate with project managers to monitor project budgets, actual costs, and forecasted margins.
- Assist in managing progress billing and monitoring project profitability.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Oversee and support accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accurate coding of expenses and prompt invoicing of clients.
- Monitor and resolve issues related to billing, payments, and collections.
- Assist in ensuring proper cash flow management by tracking and reporting on receivables and payables.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist with the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts, including project-level budgets.
- Monitor and update project forecasts, identifying risks and potential cost overruns.
- Prepare variance analysis between actual results, budgets, and forecasts.
- Work-in-Progress (WIP) Reporting:
- Support the Controller in preparing WIP reports, ensuring proper recognition of revenue and costs in line with the percentage of completion method.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure that WIP schedules are up-to-date and accurate.
- Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Help maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with GAAP and industry-specific regulations.
- Assist in regulatory filings, audits, and tax preparation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

- Support the payroll process by reviewing and approving payroll calculations, ensuring compliance with wage laws, union agreements (if appl
