Vaco Boston has partnered with a rapidly growing biotech company in the Boston area is seeking an Assistant Controller.
Responsibilities:
· Manage and mentor a team of 3-4 accounting professionals
· Oversee and maintain the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and properly classified.
· Lead the monthly close process, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, fluctuation analysis and financial reports
· Manage the accounts payable function, including vendor relations, payment processing, and expense management
· Supervise payroll processing, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies
· Identify and implement technology-driven improvements in financial processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
· Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate annual audits and tax filings.
· Ensure compliance with internal controls, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements, and accounting policies
Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; higher education and CPA preferred.
· Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
· Applicable experience in biotech, pharmaceutical and/or medical device industries preferred.
· In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.

The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
