Lincoln Search Consultants, a nationally recognized Forbes Professional Recruiting Firm, has been retained by our client, a national industry leader in the CPG / Packaging space, on an Assistant Controller search.
Job Summary: The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in overseeing project accounting activities, managing month-end close processes, and handling payroll using ADP. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in financial management and analysis.

Our client has finely tuned processes and systems in place and will afford the autonomy and bandwidth for the right candidate to put their mark on the function and organization.This is a hands-on role and will require and individual that is able to oversee the financial aspects of a variety of client projects, many with varying terms, expectations – typically in excess of 200 at any given time, so must have the ability to be flexible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Accounting: Manage and oversee all project accounting activities, ensuring accurate and timely recording of project costs and revenues, gross margin calculation.
- Month-End Close: Lead the month-end close process, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Payroll Management: Coordinate payroll, currently outsourced with ADP to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal regulations.Commission Calculations for national sales team.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, providing insights and recommendations for financial improvement.
- Internal Controls: Maintain and strengthen internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data and compliance with accounting standards.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support various business initiatives and projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance preferred.Consideration will be given to non – degreed individuals with relevant experience.
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in accounting, with exposure to project-based accounting.
- Proficiency in Sage accounting software or similar ERP preferred.
- Packaging / Distribution experience highly preferred, not required.
- Experience with 3rd party payroll tools, i.e. ADP, Paychex, Paylocity, etc., preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- CPA, MBA preferred, not required.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
