About the Job
The Assistant Controller position based in Brentwood, TN will assist in managing accounting operations and financial reporting. This role supports the Controller in overseeing the day to day, monthly and yearend financial processes to include financial reporting, account reconciliation, budget to actual review and analysis, development/implementation of accounting procedures and processes and other activities as directed by management.
Responsibilities
- Manage month end closing and recording of adjustments and reclassification journal entries
- Manage the completion of all balance sheet account reconciliations on a timely basis
- Prepare monthly financial reporting package, along with margin analysis by project
- Develop expertise in all modules of the dealership’s ERP package to provide support and assistance to all users
- Work with management and operations to develop accounting and business processes fully utilizing the business’s ERP system and to ensure ongoing adherence to the processes
- Provide routine and ad hoc reporting to operations and sales team
- Prepare annual budgets and periodic forecast updates
- Manage year end external audit
- Manage periodic state sales tax audits
- Remain flexible and present a positive disposition in the face of changing needs of business
- Demonstrate a commitment to safety, integrity, process improvement and customer satisfaction

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or higher
- Experience and knowledge in Management Information Systems
- 4-6 years of relevant accounting experience, a combination of public accounting and business experience
- Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel, with experience in all of Microsoft Office
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organization, communication and time-management skills
- Experience with financial accounting/ERP system
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate accounting and financial information in clear terms to non-financial personnel
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities
- No travel required
