We are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Construction Manager to join our team. This position requires 40 hours per week working on job sites throughout the Greater Phoenix Metropolitan area. This is an entry-level position for a recently graduated person who has received a Bachelor of Science degree or Master of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or similar major, or someone with a minimum of three years of experience working in the construction industry. The Assistant Construction Manager’s goal is to learn to become an effective Wilson Engineers Construction Project Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Review and understand construction drawings and specifications
• Observe and inspect the work performed by the Contractor to ensure it properly follows the drawings and specifications, addendums, etc. and meets local and national standards
• Review approved submittals/shop drawings and RFI responses and ensure equipment to be installed or the work performed in the field matches the approved documents
• Prepare daily reports to document project related activities
• Assist with the review of Contractor payment applications/Schedule of Values
• Assist with preparing meeting minutes and distribution to project team
• Maintain project documentation for recordkeeping
• Coordinate materials testing firms as required, receive and review results of testing
• Coordinate with contractor on a day-to-day basis for work to be performed and inspection requirements
• Review Contractor daily reports and redlines / as-builts, and confirm accuracy

Requirements
• Education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in construction management, construction engineering, or civil engineering is preferred, or a minimum of three years of experience working in the construction industry in a similar position.
• General knowledge of construction work and activities, and appropriate quality standards.
• Familiarity with Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) standards and specifications
• Proficient in computer skills, including working with Microsoft word and excel software
• Experience with construction scheduling software including Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar is a plus
• Effective communications skills.
