Role Overview: The Assistant Branch Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the branch, ensuring seamless functioning while managing and developing branch employees to enhance member satisfaction. Key responsibilities include effectively supervising branch staff through organizing, scheduling, coaching, performance appraisals, and collaborating with People Operations and leadership on staffing decisions. The role also entails managing employee schedules, timekeeping, and training, monitoring branch performance to meet established goals, and providing support in resolving escalated member issues to deliver excellent service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all branch employees through organizing, scheduling, coaching, counseling, appraising, and collaborating with HR and leadership on staffing decisions.
- Manage scheduling, time cards, and training for all branch staff to ensure efficient operations.
- Monitor branch performance to ensure goals are met and align with organizational standards.
- Assist employees with escalated problem resolution and directly service member needs.
- Cross-sell and provide information on credit union products to enhance member engagement.
- Approve new membership applications, open accounts for new and existing members, and review loan applications for completeness.
- Handle approvals for cash orders, wire transfers, fee reversals, and check or deposit holds.
- Assist members with obtaining and resolving issues related to debit/ATM cards.
- Process wire transfers while collecting necessary documentation and ensuring compliance.
- Collaborate with the Collections department to resolve collection issues and establish member payment solutions.
- Conduct outbound calls for sales opportunities, loan follow-up, and problem resolution.
- Ensure branch appearance aligns with credit union standards and manage correct placement of People Operations, Retail, and Marketing materials.
Essential Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalency certification. At a minimum, 1 year of supervisory experience in a financial institution; 3 years minimum supervisory experience overall. Notary license required or to be obtained within three (3) months of hire. NMLS-ID (Mortgage Loan Originator) required and will be provided at time of hire if not already acquired.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to empathize and build rapport.
- Clear and articulate communication, both orally and in writing.
- Proficient in customer service and handling confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work effectively with direct supervision and support branch goals.
- Intermediate mathematical skills with knowledge of loan processing procedures.
- Familiarity with credit union products, services, policies, and regulations.
- Understanding of relevant laws and regulations, including Truth in Lending, HMDA, ECOA, and others.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to communicate effectively through speaking and hearing, with visual acuity for reporting and presenting information.
- Occasionally required to lift over 45 lbs., such as supply boxes.
- Occasionally works unusual hours, including Credit Union Days and call nights.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including Saturdays.
- Occasionally required to travel up to 50 miles for business needs.
