The Blackhawk Group is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Assistant to join our dynamic team in Camarillo, CA. This key role supports our financial department by managing essential daily accounting tasks. As an Accounting Assistant, you will be responsible for processing accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R), performing account and credit card reconciliations, and maintaining precise financial records. You"ll also assist with audits and resolve discrepancies while collaborating closely with the senior accountant and financial team. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process A/P and A/R invoices, sales receipts, and customer payments accurately and punctually.
- Reconcile outstanding A/P payments, bank balances, and book balances, resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Accurately enter financial transactions into internal databases.
- Update the general ledger regularly to ensure accurate and current financial records.
- Conduct weekly and monthly credit card reconciliations to ensure transaction accuracy.
- Maintain organized digital and physical financial records for easy access and compliance.
- Communicate with clients and vendors to address billing and payment inquiries professionally.
- Assist with audits, fact-checks, and resolving financial discrepancies.
- Provide support to the financial department, senior accountant, and Controller as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
- MBA or Accounting Certificate/CPA is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in bookkeeping or an accounting role.
- Previous experience in the aviation industry is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to efficiency and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Proficient knowledge of general financial and cost accounting.
- Understanding and adherence to GAAP principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
- Experience with accounting software such as Dynamics GP, QuickBooks, and Business Central 365.
