Client Overview:
Our client is a prominent player in the renewable energy sector, owning and operating 85 hydroelectric facilities throughout the U.S., focused on acquiring and operating hydropower and developing community-scale solar projects, is seeking for an Asset Manager to join their team.
Role Overview:
You will be responsible for optimizing revenue by managing the daily scheduling of water releases from reservoirs across our hydropower facilities. Additionally, you will support and lead internal commercial projects, including handling long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), portfolio optimization initiatives, and participating in energy market design activities.
Energy Markets:
Develop and submit daily offers and schedules for hydroelectric facilities to organized ISO/RTO power markets and participate in ISO/RTO stakeholder processes and provide market intelligence updates to senior management.
Maintain relationships with counterparties, including off-takers, and fulfill regular reporting requirements and monitor financial and operational performance of portfolio facilities and prepare related reports.
Ensure compliance with monthly, quarterly, and annual ISO/RTO market requirements.
Commercial Projects:
Conduct financial analysis to support operational and investment decisions and present recommendations to senior management/executives.
Collaborate with team members to source and negotiate power purchase agreements and other offtake contracts.
Lead and conduct due diligence for optimization initiatives, coordinating with external contractors as needed and evaluate and screen acquisition opportunities within North America.
Assist with integrating new regional acquisitions into the company’s operating platform.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field, plus two (2) years of experience in financial modeling and power markets, or a relevant Master’s degree.
Two (2) years of experience in organized ISO/RTO power markets
Prior asset management and/or energy trading experience and proficiency in managing data sets and building models in Excel.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to distill complex issues and synthesize data for presentation to senior management.
Excellent time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and handle time-sensitive work.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and solve complex problems.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge of energy economics, specifically relating to North American power/energy markets.
Understanding of the regulatory environment within the energy industry.
Experience with flexible power generation resources such as gas-fired plants, hydropower, and energy storage
