FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Assistant Headmaster
Work Hours/Days: 190 days following the school year calendar, usually from 7:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each dayDesired Start Date: August 2025, with required attendance at teacher training conference in Hillsdale, MI, in June of 2025
Salary Range: $45,000-$52,000 annually, depending on experience and education

Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver (ACAND) is hiring an art teacher for the 2025-26 school year to teach a variety of classes in grades K-9. Our art curriculum follows the Hillsdale K12 Program Guide.
Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver is a growing school, offering grades K-9 for the 25-26 school year with plans to expand to K-12 by adding one grade per year.

The ideal candidate will be organized, diligent, and devoted to helping all students grow in wisdom and virtue.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare unit and weekly/daily lesson plans following curriculum guidelines for each year
- Teach and mentor students, utilizing classical pedagogy methods
- Assign, collect, grade and return graded work in a timely manner
- Monitor student progress and evaluate how best to support effective student learning
- Communicate regularly with parents
- Identify struggling or advanced students to provide additional support or academic extensions
- Collaborate with Students Services team to meet requirements of special educational plans, such as IEPs, 504s, and others
- Assist in daily operations of the school (e.g., taking attendance, supervising student arrivals, passing periods in hallways, lunchtime and recess supervision) on a shared schedule
- Organize, prepare, and facilitate at least one community building event or opportunity during the school year featuring student artwork
- Participate in professional development
- Maintain confidentiality in student records
- Promote a collegial, professional relationship with students, parents, and colleagues as a partner in the community of learners
- Perform other related duties as directed
Position Requirements:
- Adherence to the mission and vision of Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver and all school policies
- Commitment to high moral character necessary to sustain ordered liberty and constitutional self-government
- Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 36 credit hours in Education or a Art related field (Colorado Teaching license is NOT required)
- Preference is given to candidates with an Art Education degree and/or certification in teaching pedagogies
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Creative problem-solving skills
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to traverse classroom and building
- Must be able to provide instruction in various spaces dependent upon facilities availability
- Must be able to transport teaching materials and manipulatives
- Must be able to supervise outdoor recess periods
