Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Project Manager for our Austin, TX office!
This Project Manager will manage a national early childhood education client with 15 to 20 projects in various states and coordinates all aspects of assigned projects. Prepares and estimates scope of work and develops strategic plan for project success. Responsible for the coordination of all project efforts: design, administrative and technical, to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects. Serves as the primary client liaison to bring the schedule, budgets, and scope of work to completion to a client’s satisfaction and firm’s expectations in terms of resource utilization and profitability. Actively manages client budgets, schedules, programs, project communications and documentation, performs office administrative tasks, and manages project team assignments and scheduling. Estimates fees based on firm resources, determines scope of work, and prepares proposals and contracts.
- Acts as the primary design interface with clients and consultants, providing continual proactive communication with partners, collaborators, and external stakeholders.
- Works collaboratively with the firm Principals and firm leadership.
- Estimates design fees, develop proposals, change orders, invoices, and actively participates in the collection process as this pertains to architectural projects and management of client relationships.
- Produces project(s) Schedules, Work Plans, and coordinates, strategizes, prioritizes project staffing needs.
- Addresses collection and payment issues and acts as the Client interface when handling contract administration issues (firm profitability) as this pertains to Contract
- Negotiations and Administration, Add Services, and Collections.
- Produces & maintains the project(s) program and schedule to ensure effective and impactful implementation.
- Produces & maintains the project(s) budget to ensure effective and impactful implementation that meets client’s requirements using existing firm resources.
- Oversees the production of design and construction documents, review of constructability issues, and provides solutions to design problems and generates design alternatives.
- Provides QA/QC support and direction on overall design intent, conceptual and finished design presentation documentation, construction documentation, project schedules and project budget information.
- Provides feedback and direction to less experienced staff to avoid continued issues and mistakes.
- Coordination with engineering consultants.
- Collaborates with team members and colleagues to promote an inter-disciplinary design approach and philosophy.
- Participates in business development and marketing efforts.
- Mentors and directs project team members, including new hires and interns.
- Fosters and cultivates a culture of design of the office and strives to elevate design quality on projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned by senior team members or firm leadership.
- A professional degree in architecture from an accredited institution and a licensed architect is preferred but not required, and at least eight or more years of related experience with a program client.
- 8 or more years’ experience.
- Licensed or non-licensed architectural staff.
- Experienced in managing a team of three to ten people.
- Must be proficient in REVIT, AutoCad Architecture, and have the ability to annotate plans and details with Bluebeam Revu or a similar program.
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and Procore.
- Proficient in project scheduling with MS Project or similar program.
- If licensed, maintains architectural licensure through completion of LUs as required.
- If non-licensed, is actively seeking licensure, has NCARB membership and is working toward completing certification.
- Participates in marketing and business development activities.
- Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
