We are seeking an Architect to provide forensic consulting services. The position requires architectural and/or facility design expertise for insurance, legal, industrial, and other clients. This role requires a strong background and understanding of technical aspects related to residential and commercial building envelope systems, building codes, ADA guidelines, construction, and the standard of general architect’s responsibilities. It also calls for providing oral and written reports of findings and, when needed, expert testimony.

In this role you will:
- Perform forensic assignments within the field of architecture/facility design based upon a scope of work and budget prepared by the consultant and agreed upon by the client in advance of performing the work.
- Perform on-site architectural systems evaluations and inspections to determine the cause and origin of failed, defective, damaged, and /or potential resultant damage due to architectural components, and produce written forensic reports detailing the findings.
- Perform forensic assignment within the additional fields of premises liability and construction.
- Manage multiple projects and coordinate with other support team members to produce client reports in timely manner.
- Sometimes serve as team leader or project manager. You may also be required to supervise and/or evaluate performance of associate team members.
- Be comfortable initiating, developing, and maintaining mutually beneficial client relationships.
To be successful, you are going to need:
- B.S. degree in Architecture or higher (required).
- Registered Professional Architect in Tennessee (NCARB is a plus).
- Tennessee licensed General Building Contractor (preferred).
- CXLT Certification (preferred).
- A minimum of 5-10 years of experience individually or combined as an architect in the technical design of building envelope systems, construction administrative services, and/or project management of residential and/or commercial building construction.
- A high level of analytical skills. This work requires continual attention to detail with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Good report writing skills, the ability to develop and commit to budgets, scopes and deadlines.
- Must be able to interact and communicate with clients at all levels (e.g. internal and external), and work independently with good judgment and critical thinking skills.
- Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Applications and computer assisted engineering and design software.
- To be able to complete work in an outside environment (Client office, industrial, construction and residential sites) as well as an office setting.
- To perform activities on site: standing, walking on steep slope roofs, climb ladders, enter confined spaces (attics, crawlspaces, tunnels) and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to travel throughout Tennessee, and outside the state, as needed.
- A valid driver's license and method of transportation.
