The City of Vacaville is accepting applications for Aquatic Specialists/Lifeguards
in the Parks & Recreation Department. Come join the fun!
Typical duties include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining order and enforcing established rules and safety procedures;
- Scanning designated swim area constantly to ensure patron safety;
- Making frequent facility checks and maintaining facility cleanliness;
- Performing First Aid and CPR techniques, in addition to water rescue and safety procedures;
- Instructing and interacting with aquatic program participants of all ages;
- Performing facility and equipment set-up, take-down and general housekeeping;
- Opening and closing facilities;
- Performing reception, cashiering, cash handling and recordkeeping duties as required; and
- Attending mandatory in-service trainings.
- Aquatic Specialists may work on a year-round basis; a maximum of 129 hours per month.
- Lifeguards may work only during the summer season (April 1-September 30); a maximum of 40 hours per week.
Aquatic Specialist/Lifeguard positions are at-will, are not eligible for health or retirement benefits, and do not accrue leave time with the exception of State-mandated sick leave (40 hours per year).
