POSITION OVERVIEW:
Application developers are involved in the full systems life cycle and therefore are responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing, and supporting application software that is delivered on time and within budget. Application developers also provide input to project plans related to the application development initiatives.
Application developers may have lead responsibilities for pieces of a project and its resources, has oversight during implementation into production, and supports IT operations that use the system.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interprets technical design and specifications, writes code, and assists in development of new applications and products and enhancements to existing applications and products.
- Responsible for developing software application solutions of basic to intermediate complexity for all or a component part of an assigned project.
- Writes test cases and executes thorough unit testing to verify the accuracy and quality of all software developed. This may include preparation of sample test data, execution of scripts and programs, and system integration testing.
- Performs required functions in accordance with the various application development methodologies i.e. Agile / Waterfall etc.
- Identifies a risks, escalates appropriately, seeks guidance and alternative approaches, and may propose recommendations.
- Supports setup of multiple test environments.
- Engages in application defect resolution identified during project lifecycle and in support of production systems.
- May support technical implementation planning and execution of software releases.
- Stays current and builds knowledge of programming languages, application development tools, best practices, and methodologies.
- Provides timely and accurate project status reporting.
- Collaborates effectively with team members, including offsite and offshore partners.
- Builds knowledge of P& C insurance concepts and application systems.
- Support enterprise-wide compliance with enterprise standards, processes, and policies.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum Associate Degree or completed relevant immersive bootcamp or certificate program.
- Must be able to commute to Worcester, MA
- 1 to 4 years' experience in software development
- Initiative, adaptability, and willingness to learn
- Solid understanding of application development processes
- Solid understanding of source code management and application code promotion
- Ability to analyze and creatively solve problems
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks
- Effective communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
